Greeetings!

I am completely new to IAT need help with data analysis. I hope to get technical details about how a particular SC-IAT set of data already collected can be analyzed.

Unfortunately, a brief review of the SPSS data files on Anthony Greenwald's website did not look remotely like the SPSS data file I currently have and wondered if the pilot data we collected is more or less useless.  This is what one block of 32 trials looks like (don't understand why the designer only included 32 trials per block):

06C2100,18C1570,33C1570,36C1514,05C1762,01C826,02C1202,29C1723,41C889,37C938,22C1131,26C1074,08C778,04C1274,19C2035,14C1611,35C786,15C7011,25C1035,39C971,09C993,38C980,21C858,40C866,30C1058,23C1050,34C1194,00C778,16C890,13C891,12C923,27C1138,END

The only thing I can make sense is that 'C', which in other data is sometimes an 'X', means correct or incorrect, respectively.   The double digits preceding the C or X could mean trial number and after the letters possibly mean time in ms.

I have just the basic understanding of how RT latencies needs to be subtracted and that those more than 10000ms should be discarded and I believe under 250ms also discarded.

Any thoughts on what these data could mean or if you've seen data in this format before and possibly how to analyze them would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much for your time!

Warmly,

Kaydee

Have you considered that whatever application you used to view or preprocess the data files could be responsible? Excel can do some weird stuff with perfectly fine numbers if you are not careful. Go back to the original raw data files and view them in a simple, plain text editor (e.g. Notepad).

Hi Dave,

Unfortunately, the person who originally designed the program has left  and I have absolutely no idea if the program was designed from scratch (which I think not) or if a program was simply downloaded online (inquisit or other) and categories, attributes, trial numbers, etc., were simply replaced.  Below is a partial script  of one block of the SC-IAT I have if that'll give any clue as to which program it possibly came from.  I have the SC-IAT Inquisit 4 script and mine's look nothing like it so that's why I don't think it came from Inquisit.

Thoughts?

Thanks,

Kaydee

Kaydee,

this isn't an Inquisit script, so you're in the wrong place. For help you need to get in touch with the person(s) who designed the thing.
