update request failed

I am currently using 4.0.4.0 and I selected "check for updates"

The answer came back "unable to retrieve update information"

I am connected to the internet.

1) Is there any known reason for this?

2) if I download the whole program, will it update my version or will it cause problems with my registration key?

I don't know why the update check failed in your cases, BUT

- the current release is 4.0.5.0, so you should update ASAP (simply get the installer from http://www.millisecond.com/download/) and

- updating does not interfere with the already present registration information in any way.
