Drawing Lines

I can use the shape element to draw horizontal and vertical lines but this wont work for lines that do not conform to these properties. Is there a more general method for drawing lines?

As for drawing *lines*: No there is not. If you want some form of freehand drawing, there are a bunch of options, recently mentioned here:
