Hi,
I have put our web experiment online. When using Chrome, I am requested to install the Inquisit.jnlp plugin. After downloading the plugin, I cannot run the plugin, I get the message ""Windows can't open this file" and then you need to select a program to open the file. I will get it to work when I download the npInquisit- plugin under: Having trouble starting? • Click here and follow the instructions above to install the Inquisit plug-in.
I found out how to get it working, but I can imagine my participants are likely to drop out when it doesn't work immediately. This is the second experiment I have put online, the first one did not had this problem (to my recollection). Do you know what is going wrong / what I am doing wrong? (In IE everything works fine)
Thanks in advance!

The jnlp file itself is not a plugin. It's essentially a configuration file for the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) installed on the system. If the system has a properly installed and browser-enabled JRE, Windows will with what to open the file (i.e., the Java Web Start executable): https://www.ehow.com/how_5035559_open-file-extension-jnlp.html
For proper configuration of the Java in Chrome, see e.g. https://www.java.com/en/download/faq/chrome.xml and https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/1247383?hl=en
