hi,

a number of my Ps are using chrome and appear to be encountering the following problem (described below in the words of one P).

"One thing I encountered is after i downloaded the .jnlp file, the web page just stark there and i did not know what to do at that time but just wait. Later I still found no response, I have to open the source code of that page where i found that i have to click that file to install some plugin. "

I saw a thread on this started two weeks and it looks like it may be that Ps don't have JRE properly installed ... is there a way to confirm this? should we simply direct Ps who encounter this problem to the following site? https://www.ehow.com/how_5035559_open-file-extension-jnlp.html

I'm concerned I'll lose a fair number of Ps as a result...

A proper JRE must be installed and it must be activated in the browser / allowed to run (browsers like Chrome or Firefox will block plugins -- including Java -- from running by default; cf. "Click to play" https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/why-do-i-have-click-activate-plugins ). Merely downloading the JNLP file is not enough -- it too must be executed (via double click) after download (cf. https://www.ehow.com/how_5035559_open-file-extension-jnlp.html ). A properly installed JRE should then know automatically how to handle the rest.
