disable highlighted option for likert element

Currently, my likert trials come with what looks like a default option highlighted.

This is what it looks like for me:

To avoid anchoring participants, I would like to have none of the buttons highlighted for any response options.

Also, less important, but is there a way to modify the likert response colors? I would like to reverse the colors it so that the background is black and the text is white to match the style of the rest of the presentation. I could not find any color options in the likert element documentation.

Thanks in advance!

Neither is possible using the <likert> element, I'm afraid. What you can do, however, is build a simple "custom" likert-scale using standard <trial>, <text>, <shape> and/or <picture> elements. See e.g. https://www.millisecond.com/download/library/v2/CustomLikert/customlikert.zip for examples.
