I'm a returning customer having used inquisit extensively for implicit research back in 2011-2013, mostly online or on dedicated computers.
I was used to having online partipants be required to download and install a plugin, to locally run the experiment. Is this still required for good implicit measuring?
I am looking to run a few IATs and PATs (picture association tasks) online. Will Inquisit web be a good fit for me or will I need inquisit lab? I am assuming my old scripts and files won't work anymore. Will it take alot a work to upgrade my old stuff?
In short: I am wondering if I should invest again in inquisit web. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!

Yes, downloading and installing a small application is still required to participant in an Inquisit Web experiment.
Your old scripts should work fine under Inquisit 5 Web, in some cases _minor_ adjustments may be required. For testing those scripts prior to deploying them online, you can use an unregistered / trial version of Inquisit 5 Lab, although if you plan to work with Inquisit Web extensively and also wish to develop new scripts, acquiring an Inquisit Lab license in addition may be advisable.

Thanks for your post!
Inquisit Web's "rich client" model hasn't changed. As before, participants must download the Inquisit Web app, which runs the experiment locally, leveraging high-performance APIs and avoiding the need for multiple round trips over the network. We're also using newer, more reliable, and more broadly supported technology to launch our app from the browser, so we're no longer dependent on Java or plugins. Since 2011, we've introduced support for Mac, iOS, and Windows touchscreen devices, and we've begun work on Android support.
Backwards compatibility has always been a priority, and with a few exceptions, Inquisit 5 remains backwards compatible with Inquisit 2, 3, and 4. Your existing IAT scripts should run just fine. Note that we've updated our IAT tests to leverage features of Inquisit 5 such as richer HTML instructions and summary data files that are ready for significance testing. You can take advantage of the new features by downloading any of the tests in our library and changing the stimuli and category labels to target your domain of interest. You can also download your data in CSV format or as an Excel worksheet.
There are many other improvements and new features. http://www.millisecond.com/products/inquisit5/whatsnew.aspx
I hope you'll check it out, we'd love to have you back!
