Hi all, a colleague in my lab is helping test out the Inquisit tasks we'll be running with participants, but she's unable to run the tasks. Instead, she gets the following error message: "Inquisit failed to verify the script is licensed. The script will not run." I've tried to troubleshoot based on the other suggestions in this forum, but she is running a newer Mac OS version (10.13.4) and so none of the suggestions seem to apply. Any thoughts as to what might be causing this issue?

The MacOS version your colleague is using is in fact quite outdated. 10.13.6 is the minimum requirement for Inquisit 6 ( https://www.millisecond.com/products/inquisit6/requirements.aspx ), better yet update to 10.14 or above.

thanks for pointing me to the requirements, I had not seen that. 2017 doesn't seem that long ago, but I suppose in terms of OS updates my reckoning may be a bit outdated :) thanks for your help!

(1) Make sure your experiment is running under the latest release (6.2.2), see the version dropdown in your online experiment's settings.
(2) The player app needs to be allowed at a minimum incoming and outgoing connections over HTTP (port 80) and HTTPS (port 443). If security settings on your colleague's Mac or network block the traffic, it won't work.
(3) The player's log may provide further insight. Your colleague can obtain them by opening the player app, going to the "Tests" tab and clicking on "Log" in the upper right corner. Please provide the log.

Hi Dave, thanks for your help with this.
1- confirmed experiment is running under version 6.2.2.
2- I'm not sure how to check this, so let me know if we should do something else. But, she ran the steps outlined here: https://support.apple.com/zh-sg/guide/mac-help/mchlp1710/mac
and got the output:
Port Scan has started…
Port Scanning host: [ISP masked]
     Open TCP Port:     80         http
Port Scan has completed.
3- the log is attached.

QNetwork Error: SOCKS version 5 protocol error

This is typically caused by bad proxy settings. To fix this:
- Search for 'System Preferences' in Spotlight and open the preferences app.
- Open the 'Network' option in System Preferences.
- Select the WiFi or Ethernet connection you use to connect to the internet.
- Click 'Advanced...' and then select 'Proxies' in the top bar.

There you should see either 'Auto Proxy Discovery' or 'SOCKS Proxy' selected. Make sure both are disabled and try again.
