First, make sure you are installing 6.6.3, not some older version.

If after installing, the app displays an invalid installation error saying something like "Inquisit has detected an error with its installation. Please reinstall Inquisit using the installer package," open the Terminal on your Mac, and run

If the installation is still broken after, please post the output from the Terminal window, which should have the specific issues encountered.

Thank you for your reply! I just had a chance to try this due to a busy semester.

I was able to resolve the installation error on macOS (Apple Silicon, macOS Sequoia) by addressing a permission issue related to the quarantine attribute.

Here are the steps that worked for me:

1. Installed Inquisit 6.6.3 using the official `.pkg` installer and encountered the installation error you mentioned.
2. Ran the suggested `--resetup` command, but the app still reported an installation error.
3. Attempted to remove the quarantine attribute using:
`xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Inquisit\ 6.app`,
but initially received an “Operation not permitted” error.
4. After granting Terminal Full Disk Access in System Settings, the command still failed for the app bundle.
5. The issue was resolved by applying the quarantine removal specifically to the Contents directory:
`sudo xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine "/Applications/Inquisit 6.app/Contents"`
6. After that, running:
`sudo /Applications/Inquisit\ 6.app/Contents/MacOS/Inquisit\ 6 --resetup`
completed successfully, and the application launched normally.

It seems that on newer macOS versions, removing the quarantine attribute from the full app bundle may be restricted, but applying it to the Contents directory works.
