I want my participants to fill out a 21-item survey at the end of the task, but the scrolling behavior is not functioning smoothly.

While scrolling with the trackpad on my MacBook Pro I get stuck and I've noticed that the scrolling direction is erratic. Sometimes scrolling down moves the page down, sometimes up. I suspect this might be due to how Inquisit is interpreting macOS trackpad momentum / scroll acceleration or conflicts with native "Natural Scrolling" settings (although I have tried switching this on and off and the issues persist).

Here is my setup:

Inquisit Version: 7.1.5 64bit (build 8866)

OS: macOS (Tahoe 26.5.1)

Device: MacBook Pro M4

Since this will be an online study and I want to give the option to do the experiment on a Mac, I would like to solve this, only solution I see now is to have only as many items on a page as possible without scrolling.

Thank you!

RE: Mac Scrolling issues on Surveypage

+x
leonsbe - 7/8/2026

I am having an issue with a <surveypage> in my experiment. Limiting the amount of scrolling necessary with fewer questions per page, however, may be advisable regardless, since this tends to translate better across different device classes, especially phones and tablets.
