Hi there!

We want to present a small, black fixation dot in the middle of the screen, afterwhich a stimulus is presented above or below this dot which asks for a specific, directional response. However, before this top or bottom stimulus presentation, we want to change the fixation dot in the middle to a larger coloured dot (functions as a cue). After a response has been given, this larger dot (plus top or bottom stimulus) has to be deleted and the fixation dot has to be presented once again until the pre-specified trialduration is reached. Currently we are using this set-up: (top or bottom targets are presented in either the topbox or bottombox)

<trial practice2>
/ stimulustimes = [0=fixationcircle; 0=topbox; 0=bottombox; 750=bluecircle; 1350=target2]
/ correctresponse = ("a")
/ validresponse = ("s", "a")
/ trialduration = 2500
/ responsetime = 1350
/ responseinterrupt=trial
</trial>

With fixation circle having "/erase=false" and bluecircle set to true. However, the fixation circle is no longer present when a response is made and thus when the blue circle is removed, because the blue circle overlapped with the fixation circle, seemingly removing it.

How can we manage to show the fixation dot again after a response is made and the blue circle is removed? Is there a command to make a stimulus appear on a button press?

Thank you so much in advance!

Dave

Yes. You can draw stimuli to the screen using either the <trial>'s /correctmessage, /errormessage and/or /responsemessage attributes.
