Dear Inquisit Team,
Our lab would like to conduct an experiment using Inquisit and the Tobii Eyetracker T60. When we enter the command for the plugin
<eyetracker> / plugin = "tobii" / ipaddress = "169.254.6.82" </eyetracker>
Inquisit says that it couldn’t find the eyetracker (error code 204). We don’t currently have a licence for the plugin because we first want to establish whether the experiment will work. Could it be that the plugin doesn’t work with a free trial version?

Thank you very much! Best regards, Tamara The plugin works with the trial version, so that's not the issue. The issue is what the error you referenced says, i.e. Inquisit apparently cannot locate the eyetracker on the network / make contact with it on the specified IP address. I assume the IP address is correct, so the first thing I would recommend checking is that Inquisit is allowed incoming and outgoing connections to that IP address and isn't blocked from establishing those by firewall rules on the client machine.

Hello David, thanks a lot for your reply. We have checked the IP adress, deactivated the firewall and set special firewall rules but unfortunately it still doesn't work. Is there anything else what we could do?

Is there anything else what we could do? If you don't specify the /ipaddress attribute, Inquisit will try to locate the tracker on the network automatically., so it's worth trying that in addition. In case you're connecting the tracker directly to the test computer's ethernet port, make sure the corresponding network card is configured properly to automatically obtain an IP address (see pages 8 to 10 in the Tobii T60 manual). If you're using the USB-Ethernet adapter to connect to the test computer, the same as above applies, and in addition USB power issues can cause connectivity problems. In this case, try a different USB port, disconnecting other USB devices, or use a powered USB hub.

The specific connection errors make me think the T60 may be running an outdated firmware (since it's an older model). The Inquisit plugin requires at least firmware version 2.0 in order to connect to and communicate with the tracker. https://www.tobiipro.com/learn-and-support/downloads-pro/?p=tobii_t60_and_t120Could you check which firmware your T60 is currently running and, if it is outdated, could you please update it to the latest available firmware version (linked above) and let me know if that resolves the issue?
