Hey again Dave,

I have a new problem today...

I just went to test my experiment through the site (as opposed to testing the script directly) and the text is the response section of a likert does not seem to be appearing.

I tried running the script offline and it seems to be working fine, it is simply the online version that is causing it to not appear. Here is the link to the experiment:

research.millisecond.com/kashramli/ThewholeExperiment2.web

If you are going to try it, can you please fill in location as DAVE, so i know it is you.

Thanks

Dave

Captions may not be displayed properly for survey question elements (e.g., <slider>, <dropdown>, <textbox>, etc.) under certain conditions on some Macs -- that's a known issue in the currently available beta and will be addressed in a future update. I am not aware of any such issue with <likert> elements though. If that's what you're experiencing, can you provide a screenshot or the like and report it to inquisit@millisecond.com. Thanks.

So the only solution is to rewrite my script in version 3 and reupload it?

Since we're obviously talking about a bug in the currently available public beta (which will take time to track down and fix), unfortunately yes, switching to Inquisit 3 would be the only quick fix. Your only other option would be to rewrite parts of your current script so as to avoid using any <likert> elements and stick with Inquisit 4 beta. If you decide to go down the latter route, see the 'Custom likert scale' script available at https://www.millisecond.com/download/samples/v2/CustomLikert/customlikert.zip.

But since the bug only applies to participants using macs and since inquisit 3 can only be used by PCs, is there still any point in doing this?

I've tested it a couple of times on PCs now, and it seems to be working.....its only for macs that the bug occurs.

That's for you to decide. I guess it boils down to the question "How do you know if the issue occurred or not for a given participant in your study?".
