 Hello!

I am a complete novice and am in serious need of  help.

I would however like to
use Inquisit 4 web for a study and include four cognitive tasks in the experiment
(London Tower, Stroop, WCST and Trailmaking test). I understand that to combine multiple scripts (i.e)
measures you use either the <batch> element or the <include>
element.

I have tried using <batch> and added the above mentioned tasks. This seems to have worked (hooray) as it starts the testing sequence without errors.

I would however prefer to use the
<include> element to randomise the order of the tests (which it mentions to do so if you want to upload it onto the web),
but I have read the instructions and  tried several ways to merge the repeated elements which keep
coming up as error (e.g cutting and pasting all the defaults into one default element etc) but it doesn't seem to
be working?

I am unsure about this instruction:

"The first step in resolving these errors is to put a single copy of the global elements in our
include script, and remove these element definitions from both of the IAT scripts. The global
elements to add to our include script and remove from our IAT scripts are as follows"

So are global element relevant and universal to all tasks or just the IAT? If so where do I find the relevant ones?

Do I cut and paste the global elements into a script?

If I use the  <include> element and the .iqx files how am I to remove the repeated  element definitions from all of the scripts (especially when they all appear to be different)?

I would also if possible, like to add an introductory page to explain they will complete 4 tests - is this possible?

I am very confused.. I have tried and read it over and over again but I seem to be getting nowhere fast.

Very sorry for my ignorance,

Kind regards,

Prue

Prue,

you should stick with <batch>. You can have multiple <batch> elements in a single script file, each representing a different order of scripts (cf. e.g. http://www.millisecond.com/forums/Topic8686.aspx#8686). You do that via the <batch> element's /subjects and /groupassignment attributes, the details for which are available in the docs.

Thank you for the super quick response Dave, you rule. To clarify I DON'T need to use the window batch option for this do I? Just the simple <batch> option?

And if i wanted to put in an intro page, which element would I use?

Thank you, and apologies again for my Laymen-Lameness.

Correct.

And if i wanted to put in an intro page, which element would I use?

You either use the web experiment's launch page for that, which exists outside of any script(s), or you simply put your instructions in yet another script and run it via <batch> before all the others.

Sorry, I think I can use instruction or page elements for my above request. I will give it a crack anyway.
