Hi,

I am trying to upload a video (avi, 38.023KB) on Inquisit Web, but I am encountering problems. Some of the times the upload freezes at 0%, other times I get a 404 error message. Is there a limit to the size of files that can be uploaded? Or is it a problem with the connection?

Yes, there is a limit. Depending how many other files you are trying to upload and their respective sizes, it may be that your video is too large.

However, the "stuck at 0%" and "404" issues sound like something else might be going on. It could be an unstable connection or it could be an authentication issue. The latter has happened in the past if passwords contained certain special characters such as & or /. While this should generally be fixed on the server-side, there is a chance that there are some edge-cases left undetected.

Can you tell me what the upload limit is? I have managed to upload all the other files, just not this video.
Also, not sure how the password issues relate to this?

I believe the limit currently is around 40MB total (don't quote me on that; it's been increased a bunch of times and I haven't always been notified of the change, i.e., it *could* theoretically be higher). Since you say that you're able to upload other files, authentication should not be an issue. However, I'm not seeing any files uploaded to your account? (Which would explain the 404 error, the script and associated files aren't there for some reason.)

EDIT: Seeing uploads *now*, but not before.

Yes, I have deleted earlier uploads and have uploaded again, that might explain it.
I think I might exceeded the upload limit, the size of all files together is around 39.686

That's possible. Another possibility is that the AVI's file name is triggering an issue (e.g. if it has any URL-breaking characters in it). The test would be this: Take an arbitrary, *small* AVI you have around, re-name it to match the original (large) AVI's file name. If it uploads fine, it's you hitting the storage limit. If it does not upload, it's likely the file name. Let me know what you find.

Okay, hitting the limit it seems to be it then. Two options:

(1) Try to get the size of the AVI down a little bit (e.g. re-encoding at slightly lower resolution).
(2) If (1) isn't feasible, contact either inquisit<at>millisecond.com or support<at>millisecond.com with your account details to have them increase the storage limit for your experiment.
