Hi,

One of the people who tested my experiment (launched via the Inquisit web page) could not start the experiment but got this message:

‘Reference error’ ‘console is undefined

When I run it it works fine, so it may depend on the browser/operating system of that person. However, this person has tested other inquisit experiments for me before, so there may be something in the settings of this particular experiment.

Do you have any idea what it might be?

(In case you wanted to see the experiment: http://research.millisecond.com/eblweb2/spacingdemo3.web)

Thanks,
Diane

The error indicates that the plugin is inactive / not allowed to run. It does not indicate an issue with the *script*. In this context, note that recent versions of Chrome have completely dropped plugin support (this affects the native Inquisit NPAPI plugin as well as Java):

Under Chrome, the web player launch should be used instead of Java or the plugin. Alternatively, the plugin and Java launch methods may still be used with other browsers such as Firefox.

How can I make sure the web player launch is used for Chrome users?

Instruct participants to do so (e.g. via a reminder on your launch page). The only other -- purely technical -- means to enforce use of the web player would be to disable other launch methods via your web experiment's settings.
