So I just realized there is a post-type for questions or problems, sorry for my No0b-ness.
I am trying to program an experiment in which the viewer will see a chart (filetype = picture) that cues them the to the features of another picture (image of a face) that is presented after the chart. The problem is there are 60 stimuli types and 8 charts. I have figured out how to present them correctly in blocks however, I need the faces to be randomly selected and then the chart needs to be dynamically selected based on the properties of the randomly selected face. Unfortunately, I don't know how to do this outside of "IF" statements, which are not a logical command in Inquisit (... I think).  So each trial should go like this, display fixation, display chart,  display face,  & display response frame. I suppose that it could randomly select the chart type and then dynamically select the stimuli based on which chart was selected. It must however, display all of the stimulus items. Let me know if I can give you any more information or provide any clarity. The part in BOLD font at the bottom is what I did to get it to work for a single stimulus type. Should I be using the list function and if so how should I go about that?

Great you were able to make this work already. I'll add a couple of general remarks:
- You'll find pairing stimuli covered in the "How to present stimulus pairs" topic in the Inquisit documentation. Going beyond the simple example(s) in that documentation topic, it is often convenient / concise to use <list> elements to encode (factorial) stimulus combinations. See e.g. https://www.millisecond.com/forums/FindPost18268.aspx for a recent example.
- You can execute conditional logic (if-statements, etc.) via event attributes (/ontrialbegin, /ontrialend, /onblockbegin, /onblockend, etc.). See the "Conditional Statements" topic in the documentation in addition to the language reference topics on the mentioned event attributes. Virtually all scripts available in the test library make use of those features, so there are plenty of examples there as well as throughout the threads in the forum.

I'd be happy to point you to relevant examples pertinent to specific questions you might have.

Hey,
What a great resource this site is! I will make sure to search more thoroughly next time. I ended up going with a very simple fix and it is working really well. I scrapped the majority of that code displayed above and was able to accomplish the experiment in less than half the lines! Woot! Thank you for getting back.
