"This script implements a Listening Span Test with word recall based on: Cai et al. (2015). Factors contributing to individual differences in the development of consecutive interpreting competence for beginner student interpreters. The Interpreter and Translator Trainer, 9(1), 104-120. Sentences used in this script are not original to Cai et al. They are taken from the Inquisit automatedlspan.iqx script and can easily exchanged." Are there any references supporting using those sentences? Or are there any rational behind them? I am currently running an experiment to test subjects' working memory capacity. It would be great if I can use this program directly. Thank you very much for your attention! Cai et al. have not published the set of sentences used in their study. The set of sentences in the automated listening span task has been used before and is readily available, although I'm not aware of any publication specifically touching on the construction of that set. If you wish to use a different set of sentences or construct your own, the script is easily modified. Hi Dave, Thank you very much for your reply. By saying "the set of sentences in the automated listening span task has been used before and is readily available", do you mean that they have been used by other studies/researchers? Since I will have to describe the sentences/source material clearly in my paper, I need to argue that they are truly qualified for listening span assessment. Looking forward to your reply Yes.
