block number conditional on group id in blocklist

hello, i am running an experiment where i would like the group id number to determine which block to start off on (e.g., if the group ID is 15, it should start on block 15). i have previously done this using the 'skip' attribute, but here, my blocks are selected from a list and so there's no clear place to put the 'skip' attribute. code below, thank you for your help!

hello, i am running an experiment where i would like the group id number to determine which block to start off on (e.g., if the group ID is 15, it should start on block 15). i have previously done this using the 'skip' attribute, but here, my blocks are selected from a list and so there's no clear place to put the 'skip' attribute. code below, thank you for your help!

What's "block 15" in the code you posted? I cannot find any such thing. Provide a clearer description of exactly what you want to do, please. Also, if you post code that requires external files to run, please always provide any and all files the code needs.

i mean block #15, how do i get it to start on block number 15 when the blocks are embedded in a list? i don't think you would need to run the code to answer that (and I only pasted the relevant code here, the compressed folder with all the files will not upload because it is too large).

hello, i am running an experiment where i would like the group id number to determine which block to start off on (e.g., if the group ID is 15, it should start on block 15). i have previously done this using the 'skip' attribute, but here, my blocks are selected from a list and so there's no clear place to put the 'skip' attribute. code below, thank you for your help!

hello, i am running an experiment where i would like the group id number to determine which block to start off on (e.g., if the group ID is 15, it should start on block 15). i have previously done this using the 'skip' attribute, but here, my blocks are selected from a list and so there's no clear place to put the 'skip' attribute. code below, thank you for your help!

What's "block 15" in the code you posted? I cannot find any such thing. Provide a clearer description of exactly what you want to do, please. Also, if you post code that requires external files to run, please always provide any and all files the code needs.

i mean block #15, how do i get it to start on block number 15 when the blocks are embedded in a list? i don't think you would need to run the code to answer that (and I only pasted the relevant code here, the compressed folder with all the files will not upload because it is too large).

the block numbers are determined in <expt> below. i would like to use the initial group_id to go to the 15th block. previously i did this by using the 'skip' attribute in the block assignment, but again my block assignment is determined through a list here, so block number 15 will be different every time i run it.

What's "block 15" in the code you posted? I cannot find any such thing. Provide a clearer description of exactly what you want to do, please. Also, if you post code that requires external files to run, please always provide any and all files the code needs.

i mean block #15, how do i get it to start on block number 15 when the blocks are embedded in a list? i don't think you would need to run the code to answer that (and I only pasted the relevant code here, the compressed folder with all the files will not upload because it is too large).

What's block number 15 in here please?

the block numbers are determined in <expt> below. i would like to use the initial group_id to go to the 15th block. previously i did this by using the 'skip' attribute in the block assignment, but again my block assignment is determined through a list here, so block number 15 will be different every time i run it.

I'm sorry, but your question does not make sense. The expt does not define block numbers -- it says for blocks 1 to 3 sample from the list. The list is set to random sampling and contains three blocks. Neither you nor I nor anybody can know beforehand what the 15th block will be. Also missing from your explanations: What's supposed to happen for other group numbers -- is group number 8 supposed to start with the 8th block (although that is just as nonsensical)? Is group number 18 supposed to start with the 18th?

Finally, "starting" with the 15th block would mean you end up running 16 blocks -- 15 to 30 are 16 blocks, not 15. 16 to 30 would be 15 blocks.

Again, please provide a clear and sufficiently complete explanation that makes sense in Inqusiit's terms, otherwise I cannot help you

What's "block 15" in the code you posted? I cannot find any such thing. Provide a clearer description of exactly what you want to do, please. Also, if you post code that requires external files to run, please always provide any and all files the code needs.

i mean block #15, how do i get it to start on block number 15 when the blocks are embedded in a list? i don't think you would need to run the code to answer that (and I only pasted the relevant code here, the compressed folder with all the files will not upload because it is too large).

What's block number 15 in here please?

the block numbers are determined in <expt> below. i would like to use the initial group_id to go to the 15th block. previously i did this by using the 'skip' attribute in the block assignment, but again my block assignment is determined through a list here, so block number 15 will be different every time i run it.

I'm sorry, but your question does not make sense. The expt does not define block numbers -- it says for blocks 1 to 3 sample from the list. The list is set to random sampling and contains three blocks. Neither you nor I nor anybody can know beforehand what the 15th block will be. Also missing from your explanations: What's supposed to happen for other group numbers -- is group number 8 supposed to start with the 8th block (although that is just as nonsensical)? Is group number 18 supposed to start with the 18th?

Finally, "starting" with the 15th block would mean you end up running 16 blocks -- 15 to 30 are 16 blocks, not 15. 16 to 30 would be 15 blocks.

Again, please provide a clear and sufficiently complete explanation that makes sense in Inqusiit's terms, otherwise I cannot help you

One more thing: Please enlighten me what -- in your conception -- is the difference between "starting" with the 15th block vs. running only 16 blocks (starting at the, well, first)?

What's "block 15" in the code you posted? I cannot find any such thing. Provide a clearer description of exactly what you want to do, please. Also, if you post code that requires external files to run, please always provide any and all files the code needs.

i mean block #15, how do i get it to start on block number 15 when the blocks are embedded in a list? i don't think you would need to run the code to answer that (and I only pasted the relevant code here, the compressed folder with all the files will not upload because it is too large).

the block numbers are determined in <expt> below. i would like to use the initial group_id to go to the 15th block. previously i did this by using the 'skip' attribute in the block assignment, but again my block assignment is determined through a list here, so block number 15 will be different every time i run it.

I'm sorry, but your question does not make sense. The expt does not define block numbers -- it says for blocks 1 to 3 sample from the list. The list is set to random sampling and contains three blocks. Neither you nor I nor anybody can know beforehand what the 15th block will be. Also missing from your explanations: What's supposed to happen for other group numbers -- is group number 8 supposed to start with the 8th block (although that is just as nonsensical)? Is group number 18 supposed to start with the 18th?

Finally, "starting" with the 15th block would mean you end up running 16 blocks -- 15 to 30 are 16 blocks, not 15. 16 to 30 would be 15 blocks.

Again, please provide a clear and sufficiently complete explanation that makes sense in Inqusiit's terms, otherwise I cannot help you

Hi, I'm sorry I don't mean to provoke rudeness, but I think we're misunderstanding each other, and I don't deserve it. Using this code, the experiment will run 30 blocks, sampling each specified block 10 times overall in the order I set in the list. I understand I will have no idea which block it will end up sampling at any given time, but I'm wondering if there is a way to start the experiment with a particular block number. Below is how I would do this previously (i.e., if i submitted '2' as the group_id it would start on block 2 and would skip this  initial practice block). Is this impossible to do when i have set the blocks as a list? That's my only question. 

also, i'm not sure what you mean in the sentence that begins with "Finally", 15 is just an example number, I didn't mention wanting to run 15 or 16 blocks.

What's "block 15" in the code you posted? I cannot find any such thing. Provide a clearer description of exactly what you want to do, please. Also, if you post code that requires external files to run, please always provide any and all files the code needs.

i mean block #15, how do i get it to start on block number 15 when the blocks are embedded in a list? i don't think you would need to run the code to answer that (and I only pasted the relevant code here, the compressed folder with all the files will not upload because it is too large).

the block numbers are determined in <expt> below. i would like to use the initial group_id to go to the 15th block. previously i did this by using the 'skip' attribute in the block assignment, but again my block assignment is determined through a list here, so block number 15 will be different every time i run it.

I'm sorry, but your question does not make sense. The expt does not define block numbers -- it says for blocks 1 to 3 sample from the list. The list is set to random sampling and contains three blocks. Neither you nor I nor anybody can know beforehand what the 15th block will be. Also missing from your explanations: What's supposed to happen for other group numbers -- is group number 8 supposed to start with the 8th block (although that is just as nonsensical)? Is group number 18 supposed to start with the 18th?

Finally, "starting" with the 15th block would mean you end up running 16 blocks -- 15 to 30 are 16 blocks, not 15. 16 to 30 would be 15 blocks.

Again, please provide a clear and sufficiently complete explanation that makes sense in Inqusiit's terms, otherwise I cannot help you

One more thing: Please enlighten me what -- in your conception -- is the difference between "starting" with the 15th block vs. running only 16 blocks (starting at the, well, first)?

What's "block 15" in the code you posted? I cannot find any such thing. Provide a clearer description of exactly what you want to do, please. Also, if you post code that requires external files to run, please always provide any and all files the code needs.

i mean block #15, how do i get it to start on block number 15 when the blocks are embedded in a list? i don't think you would need to run the code to answer that (and I only pasted the relevant code here, the compressed folder with all the files will not upload because it is too large).

What's block number 15 in here please?

the block numbers are determined in <expt> below. i would like to use the initial group_id to go to the 15th block. previously i did this by using the 'skip' attribute in the block assignment, but again my block assignment is determined through a list here, so block number 15 will be different every time i run it.

I'm sorry, but your question does not make sense. The expt does not define block numbers -- it says for blocks 1 to 3 sample from the list. The list is set to random sampling and contains three blocks. Neither you nor I nor anybody can know beforehand what the 15th block will be. Also missing from your explanations: What's supposed to happen for other group numbers -- is group number 8 supposed to start with the 8th block (although that is just as nonsensical)? Is group number 18 supposed to start with the 18th?

Finally, "starting" with the 15th block would mean you end up running 16 blocks -- 15 to 30 are 16 blocks, not 15. 16 to 30 would be 15 blocks.

Again, please provide a clear and sufficiently complete explanation that makes sense in Inqusiit's terms, otherwise I cannot help you

Hi, I'm sorry I don't mean to provoke rudeness, but I think we're misunderstanding each other, and I don't deserve it. Using this code, the experiment will run 30 blocks, sampling each specified block 10 times overall in the order I set in the list. I understand I will have no idea which block it will end up sampling at any given time, but I'm wondering if there is a way to start the experiment with a particular block number. Below is how I would do this previously (i.e., if i submitted '2' as the group_id it would start on block 2 and would skip this  initial practice block). Is this impossible to do when i have set the blocks as a list? That's my only question. 

also, i'm not sure what you mean in the sentence that begins with "Finally", 15 is just an example number, I didn't mention wanting to run 15 or 16 blocks.

also as to your second question, i am sampling different stimuli during different blocks (as specified in the code), so running blocks 1-16 is not the same as 15-30.
