Dear Dave, dear Community.

One of our Research Assistants accidentially deleted a data file. Does Inquisit temporarily save/cache data somewhere else, so we can retrieve it?

Thank you in advance and best,
Danie

Where was the data file deleted? On the web? In the app?

Okay, then the answer is no, unfortunately -- Inquisit doesn't keep hidden copies of locally stored data files. Check the Windows recycle bin to see if the deleted file or files are still in there. Beyond that, you can try your luck with file recovery utilities (e.g. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/recover-lost-files-on-windows-10-61f5b28a-f5b8-3cc2-0f8e-a63cb4e1d4c4 ), though personally these have never worked too well for me.

(For accidentally deleted web data files, those can be restored from backups for a period of 30 days after the deletion).

Hey Dave,

thank you for the quick help. That's what  I thought. We'll try with the windows tools

Best,
Danie
