Hello,
We've had several difficulties logging in to these forums since our queries yesterday - it says our account has been blocked.
We have now answered our query with the help of cedrus. In case other people have the same query as us here is the answer:
For RB-834 button boxes use the XID mode (where the box itself collects the reaction time rather than the computer).
To use this all 4 switches need to be set to DOWN and inputdevice needs to be XID1 (or whichever port you are using)
Then to figure out the number codes for each button (in this case there are 8 buttons) you need to run some test experiments with responsemode = anyresponse.
In turn press each of the 8 buttons for 8 trials and then look at the data output. In the ''response" column there will be 8 values. In our case they were:
176, 48, 80, 208, 240, 112, 144, 16
But they may be different for each button box. We checked this several times until we were confident of the numbers for the buttons we were using. Then we replaced the numbers in our script...
example trial:
<trial fcompassionleft_rightN_target1>
/ pretrialpause = 500
/ stimulustimes = [1= focuspoint; 500 = blank; 1000=fcompassionleft02,fneutralrightcomp02; 1500 = blank; 2000= replace(target1right)]
/ inputdevice = XID3
/ responsetime = 2000
/ validresponse = (144, 112)
/correctresponse = (144)
/ posttrialpause = 180
</trial>
Hope this helps
Shiv and Lucy
