I want to use another scale than the Likert Scale used in the Sample Scripts. Is there another possibility? The Likert scales only have a horizontal design but I want to use a scale that has a vertical design.

See the "Custom likert scale" sample script available from the Inquisit 2 samples page at https://www.millisecond.com/download/samples/v2/default.aspx. You can easily adapt this approach to achieve a vertical scale layout.
