I'm using radiobuttons in a web-based survey. When I use my mac (OS 10.6) the textbox associated with the "other" option does not appear. Because of this, when the "other" option is selected, the survey will not allow the participant to proceed to the next page of the survey, even though "required" has been set to "false". My guess is that because "other" has been selected, but text has not been entered, it will not allow one to proceed.

This is not a problem when running inquisit 3 on my PC. The box appears next to "other" and works appropriately.

Any thoughts?

Thanks for the help!

I also forgot to mention that there seems to be a spacing issue when horizontal and vertical radiobutton questions are intermixed. When the items are all vertical, there does not seem to be an issue, but when one of them is horizontal, a large space separates the horiztonally oriented item from the one above it.

As an aside, spacing also seemed to be an issue with the survey pages. When I made the scripts in inquisit 3 on a desktop PC, everything looked fine, but when I ran the scripts over the web in Inquisit 4 and on my mac in inquisit 4, at the top of each surveypage a huge gap appeared between the page caption and the caption for the first item. I played around with all of the item spacing, font sizing, etc options, but wasn't able to get the gap to disappear. To resolve the problem, I deleted the surveypage caption, and simply added it to the caption of the first item on each page.

Finally, in Inquisit 3, when a radiobutton item was oriented horizontally, the spacing between the options was customizable. This was both good and bad. When I am working with it in 4 on my mac, the spacing between options (it seems) is standardized to the largest option. This is very nice, with the exception that with a 7 option likert scale including "neither agree nor disagree" as the center choice, the buttons run off the side of the screen. Is there a workaround for this?

I've attached one of the files on the chance that it might prove helpful.

Anyway, thanks for the help.

Hi, I am having a similar problem running Inquisit on a mac (OS 10.8), in that my /other textbox does not show up!

In this post in October, Dave said it was a bug that would be fixed in the next release - but I have the December release - and I don't think that they fixed it!
