Hi,
One of my P is not able to uninstall the plugin. She receives this error message:
"An error occurred while trying to unregister the plugin.
Technical Details:
Suste.Security.Security.Exception: Requested registry access is not allowed.
at Microsoft.Win32.RegistryKey.OpenSubKey(string name, Boolean writable)
at IQWEBClean.IqCleaner.cleanPluginRegistration()
The Zone of the assembly that failed was:
My Computer"
Any thoughts as to the nature of the problem?
Vivian

The error indicates the person's user privileges are insufficient to delete registry keys. She/he should try running the cleanup utility with administrative privileges.

That does not mean the application is *executed* with administrative privileges under modern Windows systems. You have to explicitly do so via the context menu ("Run as administrator").

Hi Dave,
I don't have a window machine handy and am not sure if this P knows how to go about doing so.
You wrote initially "
She/he should try running the cleanup utility with administrative privileges." and in your most recent post for her to do "
so via the context menu ("Run as administrator")".
Could you provide more information about where these apps are located in the Windows machine? I did a search and this came up:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/delete-files-using-disk-cleanup#delete-files-using-disk-cleanup=windows-8
I'm assuming this is what you had in mind... again, I don't have access to a Windows machine and so can't confirm.

Hi V,
Windows Vista, 7, and 8 do not automatically run apps with admin privileges, even if the user is logged on as an admin. So, tell the participant to download the Inquisit Web Removal utility, then right-click it, then select "Run as administrator" to make sure the app runs with the required privileges.
Are you using Inquisit 4.0.5 by any chance? If so, w
e've simplified the uninstall experience for the plugin by having it show up in Add/Remove Programs in the Windows Control Panel so that participants can uninstall the program from there, just as they'd uninstall any other program. If you're study is running on 4.0.5, the participant should check Add/Remove Programs (or Programs and Features on Windows 7) for "Inquisit 4 Web", and uninstall from there. I'll make sure the instructions on our uninstall page are updated with this info.

Re. detailed instructions on how to run a program with administrative privileges under Windows 7 / 8, those can be found online at e.g.
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows7/how-do-i-run-an-application-once-with-a-full-administrator-access-token
or via your preferred search engine, e.g.
