I am having an issue with a <surveypage> in my experiment. I want my participants to fill out a 21-item survey at the end of the task, but the scrolling behavior is not functioning smoothly.

While scrolling with the trackpad on my MacBook Pro I get stuck and I've noticed that the scrolling direction is erratic. Sometimes scrolling down moves the page down, sometimes up. I suspect this might be due to how Inquisit is interpreting macOS trackpad momentum / scroll acceleration or conflicts with native "Natural Scrolling" settings (although I have tried switching this on and off and the issues persist).

Here is my setup:
  • Inquisit Version: 7.1.5 64bit (build 8866)
  • OS: macOS (Tahoe 26.5.1)
  • Device: MacBook Pro M4
Since this will be an online study and I want to give the option to do the experiment on a Mac, I would like to solve this, only solution I see now is to have only as many items on a page as possible without scrolling.

Thank you!

That version is quite outdated, so the first thing you'll want to check whether the problem persists in the current version (7.1.7, but 7.2.0 should become available soon).

I'm not aware of any similar reports to date. Limiting the amount of scrolling necessary with fewer questions per page, however, may be advisable regardless, since this tends to translate better across different device classes, especially phones and tablets.
