Okay, I think I've at least identified one case that can trigger the issue, namely when using the JavaWebStart launch method. An affected participant can either select a different launch method (as mentioned in the previous reply; also see the screenshots below):

To prevent JavaWebStart from being used in the first place, you can also disable it via your web experiment's settings by unchecking it:

Either of those should hopefully get those 3 participants up and running.

Since neither you nor I are able to reproduce this, there may be some commonality between those three affected systems (if the error is indeed the same on all of them) that we're both not catching. I don't see any obvious commonality in the logs, though. Different browsers, different Windows versions, it would seem.

#1: Does the error occur for them across different launch methods. E.g., if they used JavaWebStart before, have them try e.g. the web player or vice versa. Available alternative launch methods can be accessed via the "Having trouble starting" link at the bottom of the launch page.
#2: Is there any commonality that you know of that would not show up in the logs, e.g. all use the same antivirus software or other security related browser plugins?

Thanks!

Hm, now I have a third participant also reporting that error message and when clicking on ok being redirected to that login in page. This is really annoying as we already put a lot of effort in recruiting this special sample and now keep on loosing subjects...

Hi July,

I don't know why they would be redirected to the login page. However, the 1st screenshot suggests that the participant never actually gets the "enter your user id" prompt. That may be due to having JavaScript disabled or some other browser plugin blocking the prompt. In the top right you can see an Antivirus (Avira) browser plugin icon; that would be a likely culprit causing interference.

Hi Dave,
I now attached the screenshot of the original error message. So far it occurred for two people using windows 8.0 and firefox... once they klick on ok they are redirected to the page, where I usually log in...

Hmm, I don't see the reported message anywhere in those screenshots. However, in the prompt labeled 2, the participant should simply highlight the "Inquisit Player" entry at the top and then click OK. It seems that she/he is clicking "Durchsuchen" instead (label 3).

Hi Dave,
the person, who reported the problem with the user ID now sent the attached screenshot. Does this give you any idea what might be the problem?
Best Julia

Hmm, that's strange. I tried to reproduce again using the system configuration you mentioned (Win 7, using both Firefox 41.0.1 and IE11) and both worked as expected / as in the previous test. I also don't see any hints as to what may be wrong in the logs for your experiment.

Any chance the other participants (those you don't have system details for yet) are experiencing some different issue?

Oh, and I asked her to enable the Java script, which she additionally updated...

Hi, the initial user reporting this problem uses Windows 7 and tried with explorer 11 as well as mozilla 41.0.1. Unfortunately, by now there are two additional participants reporting the same problem. However, I don't know the details of the software they are using yet.... =(
