Hi there,
I'm running an online study under the following link: http://research.millisecond.com/linkej/SFB636C6Online.web. One participant reported the following error message: "The UserId Parameter was not specified" and said that the project would not start at all. Participants receive a four digit ID they have to use to login. However, using the same ID, I am not able to reproduce this error message. Any ideas what could be wrong?
Best
Julia

I've tested the experiment as well (ID used was 0000, so you can identify and eliminate the data set) and am unable to reproduce the error. Hard to tell what's going on without further details about the respective participant's setup. It may be an issue with her/his browser configuration (e.g. JavaScript disabled) or something similar. If you have any further details (operating system type and version, browser type and version, launch method(s) attempted), it would be great if you could add them to this thread.

Hi, the initial user reporting this problem uses Windows 7 and tried with explorer 11 as well as mozilla 41.0.1. Unfortunately, by now there are two additional participants reporting the same problem. However, I don't know the details of the software they are using yet.... =(

Oh, and I asked her to enable the Java script, which she additionally updated...

Hmm, that's strange. I tried to reproduce again using the system configuration you mentioned (Win 7, using both Firefox 41.0.1 and IE11) and both worked as expected / as in the previous test. I also don't see any hints as to what may be wrong in the logs for your experiment.

Any chance the other participants (those you don't have system details for yet) are experiencing some different issue?

Hi Dave,
the person, who reported the problem with the user ID now sent the attached screenshot. Does this give you any idea what might be the problem?
Best Julia

Hmm, I don't see the reported message anywhere in those screenshots. However, in the prompt labeled 2, the participant should simply highlight the "Inquisit Player" entry at the top and then click OK. It seems that she/he is clicking "Durchsuchen" instead (label 3).

Hi Dave,
I now attached the screenshot of the original error message. So far it occurred for two people using windows 8.0 and firefox... once they klick on ok they are redirected to the page, where I usually log in...

Hi July,

I don't know why they would be redirected to the login page. However, the 1st screenshot suggests that the participant never actually gets the "enter your user id" prompt. That may be due to having JavaScript disabled or some other browser plugin blocking the prompt. In the top right you can see an Antivirus (Avira) browser plugin icon; that would be a likely culprit causing interference.

Hm, now I have a third participant also reporting that error message and when clicking on ok being redirected to that login in page. This is really annoying as we already put a lot of effort in recruiting this special sample and now keep on loosing subjects...
